Return to The Haunted Studio Home Page

This undeniably spooky, yet somewhat whimsical watercolor painting has become one of The Haunted Studio's most popular subjects.
It's Halloween, of course, and the neighborhood kids are excitedly beginning their trick-or-treating. They're eagerly approaching the big old house at the top of the hill. All, that is, except the littlest one, there in the purple coat. She's definitely not ready for this! Her brother, though, is only afraid he'll miss out on all the goodies! Can you imagine the dialogue?
The title came to me one day, while watching a negotiator, reporting to the press about an ongoing dispute that everyone knew had reached explosive proportions, placidly reporting that "the matter is under discussion."
How diplomatic! I just had to paint this scene to fit the title.
The house, by the way, really exists, and it stands atop a hill way out near the eastern end of Long Island, New York. I've imagined the scene, of course, and placed my eager (and not-so-eager) trick-or-treaters in the story. The nature of their discussion I'll leave to you.
The Matter Is Under Discussion has been meticulously scanned from my original watercolor painting and digitally printed with fade-resistant inks on specially treated heavyweight watercolor paper. I personally inspect your print, sign it, slip it into its protective clear plastic envelope, and include with it a page of helpful framing hints from The Haunted Studio.
