Have you ever wondered what pumpkin sellers do with all those unsold pumpkins as night falls on Halloween eve? Well, so did I, and that's precisely how this Halloween painting came to be.
It's Halloween night, and the last customers have purchased their pumpkins from the family's farm stand. Just a few are left unsold, so dad loads them in the back of the old pickup truck and hauls them home, where the kids help scoop them out. Then, one by one, mom and dad carve them, insert short fat candles, and display them in windows, along the porch, and everywhere else around the house.
The trick-or-treaters will be arriving soon, loot bags at the ready, and everyone in the family is hard at work preparing to provide a little shiver or two to spice up the evening. They've been doing this since their kids were old enough to enjoy it, and by now it's become the family tradition they look forward to all year.
At last, they'll all stand back to admire their handiwork. Throughout the evening, costumed kids and their protective parents will be coming by to admire them too... and to enjoy something else they've come to expect: fresh baked cookies and apple cider.
The Pumpkin Sellers' Halloween has been meticulously scanned from my original watercolor and digitally printed with fade-resistant inks on specially treated heavyweight watercolor paper. I personally inspect your print, sign it, slip it into its protective clear plastic envelope, and include with it a page of helpful framing hints from The Haunted Studio.
