Hello,
my name is Carol, and I would love a personalized Halloween portrait of my
house. I need to know 2 things, how much will this cost me and will I get
it by Halloween? I am one of those crazy people who love Halloween more
than any other holiday. We do it up big with our "spookie ookie party" in
the beginning of October. I also love old things, and am very interested.
I also signed up for your newsletter. Can't wait!!!
I replied in detail, and
shortly thereafter, received a package containing a bunch of photos, and a
detailed letter outlining what carol wanted included in her
painting-to-be. Because of the number of elements she was requesting, I
decided to send her a pencil sketch before getting into the first color
study.
With a few minor revisions,
that became the basis of my first color study painting, followed shortly
thereafter by
a second and then a third version. (There are never any
extra charges for additions or changes made to study paintings.)
The final painting, (in
addition to house and barn) includes Carol at the wheel of the tractor,
six grandkids in the trailer, dad Nick at the gruesome barbecue, their two
children (long since fully grown, of course) as the baby and the grumpy
monkey (Carol had told me her son hated --hated -- that
costume!), their four Yorkies, three chickens, witch, bats, owl, and a
whole host of "spookie-ookies."
Within hours after the painting
arrived and was uncrated, I was
delighted to receive the following:
Lew,
the painting came this morning. It was like breaking into Fort Knox to get
it opened! You pack things very well, no damage what so ever. When my
husband took the cocoon off, my eyes lit up like it was Christmas. Instead
of the "new car smile", he said I had the "new painting smile". It is
beautiful!! You have a great way of taking a bunch of pictures and ideas
and putting them together to make a wonderful memory. The painting is us,
our home and how we like to celebrate our favorite holiday. Thank you so
much!!! I really enjoyed working with you and feel a little sad we won't
be corresponding, although I will look forward to your monthly
