Return to The Haunted Studio home page

I have long been fascinated by the slithery, ghostly sort of nighttime mist that creeps along the ground like some sinister specter. I've actually seen this a few times in real life, more often in movies... most notably in the famed old Cecil B. DeMille film, The Ten Commandments, making visual God's tenth plague upon the Egyptians. It made a lasting impression on me, so when I began to develop this peculiar old house, and considered the setting into which it would be placed, the quiet, sinister, pervasive mist became an iconic element.
That thought notwithstanding, let me ask you: just who... or what... is the mistress of Melancholy? Is she the moldering old house, seemingly curtseying before the moon? Is she the ghost of some long-departed grande dame, sometimes drifting in a window or half-revealed in the mist? Or is she simply the unseen presence that inhabits this scene? I leave the answers -- if answers there be -- to you.
Mistress of Melancholy has been meticulously scanned from my finished watercolor and digitally printed with fade-resistant inks on specially treated heavyweight watercolor paper. I personally inspect your print, sign it, slip it into its protective clear plastic envelope, and include with it a page of helpful framing hints from The Haunted Studio.
Your enthusiastic satisfaction is of course guaranteed. If,
for any reason, you are not thrilled with the print you receive, you may return
it at my expense for full refund or exchange.
