"A CARRIAGE AWAITS"
In the long curving driveway before
this elegant Colonial mansion, a mysterious coach-and-four stands and
waits... for what? One sees only the hooded coachman and groom,
standing silently by.
The house is real, and it is the
residence of the family whose horse barn became my painting,
Halloween Of The Horses,
which you may view by clicking here.
A few days after I shipped his
painting, Roy M. sent the following:
Just wanted to let
you know that the painting arrived in fine shape... The scan you sent didn't even hint at the
level of detail of the actual painting, I'd missed at least one spook,
and I never realized how skeletal the hands of the coachmen were.
Thanks again for
putting this all together, what a gift!
As with Halloween of the Horses, which had preceded this commission
for Roy , this was an equally large painting, providing me the space
to capture the sweep of the driveway, the autumn foliage, and that
ominous coach-and-four.
